Refund policy
Return Policy, Right of Withdrawal, Recycling & Take-Back – Automation Shop
Last updated: 30 August 2026
General
This return policy applies to purchases made by consumers through the Automation Shop webshop.
Automation Shop sells, among other things, electrical and electronic smart home products, including smart lights, switches, sensors, controllers and other electronic equipment.
Automation Shop also offers 3D-printed products. These may be standard products as well as products manufactured specifically according to the consumer’s wishes or specifications.
This return policy distinguishes between:
the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal;
the voluntary commercial 30-day return period;
the statutory guarantee of conformity for defective or non-conforming products.
The voluntary commercial return policy never limits the consumer’s statutory rights.
Statutory 14-day right of withdrawal
When you, as a consumer, make a distance purchase through our webshop, you are in principle entitled to withdraw from the agreement within 14 calendar days without giving any reason.
For the purchase of goods, this period begins on the day after you, or a third party designated by you who is not the carrier, physically receives the product.
When an order consists of several goods that are delivered separately, the period begins on the day after you receive the last item.
You do not have to give a reason for your withdrawal.
The right of withdrawal applies only where it is legally applicable. Statutory exceptions exist for certain agreements.
How do you exercise the right of withdrawal?
You can exercise your right of withdrawal by providing Automation Shop, within the statutory period, with a clear statement indicating that you wish to withdraw from the agreement.
You can do this, for example, by e-mail:
E-mail: retour@automationshop.be
You may use the model withdrawal form included at the bottom of this policy.
Use of the form is not mandatory. A clear e-mail stating that you wish to withdraw from the agreement is sufficient.
In the case of a statutory withdrawal, you do not have to give a reason.
Exception for certain 3D-printed products
Not every 3D-printed product is automatically excluded from the right of withdrawal.
Standard products
When a 3D-printed product is a standard product offered by Automation Shop and is not manufactured specifically according to the consumer’s personal wishes or specifications, the statutory right of withdrawal remains applicable in principle.
The fact that a standard product is only printed after the order is placed does not in itself mean that the right of withdrawal lapses.
Custom-made products
The right of withdrawal may be legally excluded when a product is manufactured specifically according to the consumer’s specifications or is clearly intended for a specific person.
This may, for example, be the case for a product that is specifically manufactured on the basis of:
a 3D model provided by the consumer;
specific dimensions
a specific design
personal modifications
specific text or an image
a non-standard choice of colour or material
an individual configuration
other personal specifications.
The exception is applied only when the statutory conditions are actually met.
When the right of withdrawal does not apply to a particular custom-made product, the consumer will be clearly informed of this before the agreement is concluded.
The absence of a right of withdrawal does not affect the consumer’s statutory rights if the custom-made product is defective or non-conforming.
3D printing based on a quotation
For specific 3D printing assignments, Automation Shop may first provide a quotation.
A quotation may include, among other things:
design or preparation
material
colour
dimensions
print quality
printing time
post-processing
assembly
quantity
shipping
other modifications requested by the consumer.
An agreement for custom-made work is concluded when the consumer accepts the quotation within its validity period and Automation Shop confirms the assignment.
If the consumer wishes to make changes after acceptance, Automation Shop may propose an amended quotation or price adjustment.
When the product is actually manufactured according to the consumer’s personal specifications, the statutory right of withdrawal may be excluded in accordance with the applicable legislation.
Returning a product after statutory withdrawal
When you exercise your statutory right of withdrawal, you must return the goods without undue delay and no later than 14 calendar days after informing Automation Shop of your withdrawal.
Return address:
Oosterwijk 70
2260 Westerlo
Belgium
Automation Shop may ask you to contact us before shipping so that the return can be processed correctly. However, a consumer who has validly exercised their statutory right of withdrawal does not lose that right solely because they returned the product without submitting a prior return request.
In the case of an ordinary statutory withdrawal, the consumer in principle bears the direct cost of returning the goods, unless Automation Shop voluntarily bears these costs or the consumer was not correctly informed of these costs in advance.
In the event of a defect, incorrect delivery or another problem for which Automation Shop is legally responsible, the applicable costs will be borne by Automation Shop.
Condition of the returned product
The product does not have to be completely unused or unopened in order to exercise the statutory right of withdrawal.
You may unpack and handle the product to the extent necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning.
If the product is used or handled beyond what is necessary to assess it, Automation Shop may, in accordance with the statutory rules, claim compensation for any reduction in value.
For electronic and smart home products, for example, a reduction in value may apply if the product is installed, used, modified or configured significantly beyond what was necessary to assess its operation and characteristics.
The absence of the original packaging does not in itself mean that the right of withdrawal lapses.
We ask you, insofar as reasonably possible, to return all supplied parts and accessories.
Refund after withdrawal
When you validly withdraw from the agreement, Automation Shop will refund the payments received in accordance with the statutory rules.
The refund includes the cost of the least expensive standard delivery offered by Automation Shop.
If you chose a more expensive delivery method, the additional costs of this more expensive method will not be refunded.
Automation Shop may withhold the refund until:
the goods have been received back; or
you have provided evidence that you have returned the goods,
whichever occurs first.
The refund will in principle be made using the same means of payment as used for the original payment, unless you expressly agree to another method.
A statutory refund will not be replaced by a voucher without your express consent.
Defective, damaged or incorrectly delivered products
Please contact Automation Shop as soon as possible if you receive a product that:
is defective;
is damaged;
has been delivered incorrectly;
does not correspond to your order;
is missing parts; or
is otherwise not in conformity with the agreement.
E-mail: retour@automationshop.be
Preferably include:
your name;
order number;
product;
description of the problem;
photos or videos where relevant.
Prompt notification helps us handle the problem efficiently.
Failure to report a problem immediately does not affect your statutory rights.
Statutory guarantee of conformity
For consumers, new goods are covered by the statutory guarantee of conformity in accordance with applicable Belgian legislation.
The statutory guarantee period for new goods is in principle two years from delivery.
This guarantee also applies to electronic products, smart home products and 3D-printed products sold as goods to consumers.
If a product does not conform to the agreement, the statutory remedies apply. Depending on the circumstances, these may include repair or replacement and, where the statutory conditions are met, a price reduction or termination of the agreement.
The statutory guarantee is provided by Automation Shop as the seller. The consumer does not have to contact the manufacturer exclusively for the statutory guarantee.
Any manufacturer’s warranty or commercial guarantee does not limit the statutory guarantee.
Smart home products and electronic equipment
For smart home products, including smart lights, switches, sensors and controllers, the statutory guarantee of conformity applies where the statutory conditions are met.
In the event of a warranty issue, Automation Shop may ask for the product to be examined or returned.
Where the issue is covered by the statutory guarantee, the applicable statutory remedies will be provided free of charge.
Where a problem can demonstrably be attributed to misuse, incorrect installation, damage caused by the consumer or another cause for which Automation Shop is not legally responsible, the statutory guarantee cannot be invoked in the same manner.
A manufacturer’s warranty never limits the statutory rights against Automation Shop.
Exchanges
Automation Shop does not offer a separate statutory right to directly exchange a correctly delivered product.
If you wish to purchase a different product, you may return the original product where it falls under the statutory right of withdrawal and then place a new order.
If the original product is defective or non-conforming, the statutory guarantee rights remain applicable.
Recycling & take-back
At Automation Shop, we believe it is important that electrical and electronic equipment, lamps and batteries are collected and processed correctly and in an environmentally friendly manner.
We therefore provide information below about the take-back of waste electrical and electronic equipment and batteries.
Electrical and electronic equipment – Recupel
Electrical and electronic equipment must not simply be disposed of with ordinary household waste.
When you purchase a new electrical or electronic device from Automation Shop, you may, subject to the statutory conditions, have a similar discarded device taken back free of charge.
This may, for example, include:
smart switches;
smart sensors;
smart home controllers;
electrical and electronic accessories;
lighting products;
other electrical or electronic equipment covered by the applicable regulations.
Take-back is carried out in accordance with Belgian statutory obligations and the practical arrangements applicable to the relevant product and delivery.
How does take-back work for an online order?
Because Automation Shop sells online, the practical arrangements for take-back may vary depending on the type, size and weight of the old device.
Would you like to make use of your right to take-back? Preferably contact us before or shortly after placing your order via:
E-mail: retour@automationshop.be
Please include:
your name;
your order number;
which new product you purchased;
which old device you would like to have taken back;
where applicable, the size or weight of the old device.
We will then work with you to determine the practical way in which the statutory take-back can be arranged.
Take-back is free of charge when the statutory conditions for take-back are met.
More information about Recupel and collection points can be found at
https://www.recupel.be/
https://www.recupel.be/nl/lampen-en-elektro-inleveren/inzamelpunt
Lamps
Discarded lamps must also not be disposed of with ordinary household waste.
Depending on the type of lamp, specific collection rules may apply.
Where the statutory take-back obligation applies to a product purchased from Automation Shop, you may, subject to the statutory conditions, have a similar discarded product taken back free of charge.
For practical arrangements, you can contact us at retour@automationshop.be
Batteries – Bebat
Batteries do not belong in ordinary household waste.
Automation Shop sells products that contain batteries or can be used with batteries. For batteries and products containing batteries, the applicable Belgian statutory obligations regarding collection and processing are complied with.
Discarded batteries may, where they fall under our statutory take-back obligation, be returned to Automation Shop free of charge.
No new purchase is required for the take-back of batteries where the statutory take-back obligation applies.
More information about the correct collection and recycling of batteries can be found at
https://www.bebat.be/
https://www.bebat.be/nl/inzamelpunten
Which batteries can you return?
This includes, among other things, batteries of the type that we offer or that fall within the categories for which we, as a point of sale, have a statutory take-back obligation.
This may, for example, include:
loose batteries;
rechargeable batteries;
batteries used in certain smart home products;
small portable batteries.
Different statutory rules and collection procedures may apply to large, industrial or special batteries.
Are you unsure whether a battery can be returned? Please contact us before sending or delivering it.
Safe handling of batteries
Damaged, leaking, swollen or otherwise hazardous batteries should not simply be shipped or presented at a collection point.
In such cases, first contact us at retour@automationshop.be, so that we can indicate how the battery can be handled safely and where it can be handed in.
Never expose batteries to fire, extreme heat or short circuits, and always follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions.
Not with ordinary waste
Do not dispose of electrical and electronic equipment and batteries with residual waste where separate collection is available.
By handing in electrical equipment, lamps and batteries separately, valuable materials can be recovered and harmful substances can be prevented from unnecessarily entering the environment.
Collection points
For certain electrical devices, lamps and batteries, you can also use authorised collection points.
The available collection points and conditions may depend on the type of product.

Legal information
The take-back and processing of electrical and electronic equipment and batteries is carried out in accordance with the applicable Belgian and European regulations.
The specific take-back procedure may vary depending on the product, dimensions, weight, nature of the battery or device and the applicable statutory obligations.
Nothing on this page limits the consumer’s statutory rights.
Batteries
Some Automation Shop products contain batteries or are supplied with batteries.
Discarded batteries must not be disposed of with ordinary household waste.
Where Automation Shop, as an end seller, sells batteries or products containing batteries to end users, statutory obligations apply regarding, among other things:
free take-back of certain discarded batteries;
separate collection;
correct transfer to an authorised collection system or the responsible producer/importer;
information to consumers regarding the batteries and their correct and safe collection.
The specific take-back obligation applies to the battery categories for which Automation Shop, as a point of sale, has a statutory take-back obligation.
For the current practical arrangements, the consumer can contact Automation Shop.
E-mail: retour@automationshop.be
Automation Shop does not dispose of collected batteries together with ordinary waste.
Safety when returning batteries
Batteries must be presented safely.
Damaged, leaking, swollen, overheated or potentially hazardous batteries must not be shipped without prior contact with Automation Shop.
In such cases, please contact us first:
E-mail: retour@automationshop.be
Batteries must not be intentionally short-circuited, opened, burned or damaged.
The manufacturer’s safety instructions and the applicable regulations must always be followed.
Take-back of old electrical and electronic equipment
Statutory obligations concerning take-back and collection may apply to electrical and electronic equipment and lamps.
When you purchase a new similar electrical or electronic device or a lamp from Automation Shop, you may make use of the statutory take-back obligation for your old similar device where this obligation applies to the purchase concerned.
This take-back is free of charge.
The old device does not have to have been purchased from Automation Shop and does not have to be the same brand as the new device.
The take-back obligation also applies to online sales.
Because the practical arrangements for take-back may depend on the type, size and weight of the device, we ask you to preferably notify us of a take-back during the ordering process or as soon as possible before delivery.
E-mail: retour@automationshop.be
Preferably include:
your name;
order number;
the new product;
the old device you would like to have taken back;
relevant information about the type, size or weight.
Automation Shop will then inform you of the practical manner in which the take-back will be arranged.
Conditions for the take-back of old electrical equipment
The device to be taken back must be a similar device for which the statutory take-back obligation applies.
The device does not have to be operational in order to fall under the take-back obligation.
However, for safe collection, the device must be capable of being presented in a safe manner. A device that, for example, has been completely dismantled or poses a serious safety risk may result in a practical limitation on take-back.
If in doubt, you can contact Automation Shop in advance.
Producer responsibility for electrical equipment and batteries
Depending on the manner in which Automation Shop places products on the Belgian market, additional extended producer responsibility obligations may apply.
This may, for example, be relevant where Automation Shop itself imports electrical or electronic products or batteries and places them on the Belgian market for the first time.
Automation Shop ensures that the obligations applicable to it as a seller, importer or producer are complied with in accordance with the applicable regulations.
Where a supplier or another market operator is legally responsible for certain obligations, these responsibilities are allocated in accordance with the applicable regulations.
Discounted products
A product is not excluded from the statutory right of withdrawal solely because it is sold at a discount.
Where the statutory right of withdrawal applies, this right also continues to apply to discounted products, promotional products and products sold in a clearance sale.
This does not affect statutory exceptions or the conditions of the voluntary commercial 30-day return policy.

Statutory rights
Nothing in this return policy is intended to exclude or limit consumers’ statutory rights.
Where any provision of this return policy conflicts with a mandatory statutory provision, the statutory provision takes precedence.
This includes, among other things, the statutory rules concerning:
withdrawal;
guarantee of conformity;
refunds;
delivery;
consumer protection;
take-back of electrical and electronic equipment;
batteries;
extended producer responsibility.
The consumer’s statutory rights remain fully applicable at all times.
